First thing I've painted in (what feels like) ages. I believe the ref photo I used (below) is of a red deer. I have troubled with red deer versus elk (wapiti), but since it's from the UK I'm guessing red deer.
Christmas present for my brother. (Matt, if you see this, you had darn well better act surprised.)
Watercolor, 13" x 20", 2013.

this is so lovely, i'm in awe!
So peaceful and majestic. Love it.
Stunning! What a beautiful piece!
Enchanting and atmospheric!
I need to practise realism. Your images really strike wonder into me! It's more alive than the actual photograph.
Glad you like it! I like the way the mood turned out...for once, a painting turned out just as I intended it!
I can imagine how striking this is in person. Really love the brush on the ground.
Your work never ceases to amaze and inspire me. I'm so glad I decided to watch you. I love the little attention to detail, of shadows in his footsteps. As I was writing this, I thought 'there should be footsteps leading up to him, too', scrolled up, and there they were. Made me smile.
I'm glad I didn't let you down on the details! I try to make sure I get little things like that right. Thanks for the watch!
This is a beautiful picture. I love the light and the simplicity of the colours
This shining around it is so lovely... beautiful painting! (:
Thanks! I sort of did the "halo" think on another painting earlier this year by accident, and I liked the effect so much that I wanted to do it again to something else (this time intentionally). I thought it turned out well!
Absolutely beautiful. Love it.
Really lovely work!
